On December 3, 1994 Jon and I went on our very first date. We doubled with Jon's good friend Heath and his lovely girlfriend Leanda. Little did I know that that night I would not only be finding my future husband but my best girl friend, too.
In March 1995 Heath and Leanda married. Jon and I married 6 weeks later.
In 1996 they had a little girl, and we had one a few months later. Then they had another little girl , and then so did we. Then they had another little girl, and so did we. Then they had their 4th baby girl, and a few months later, so did we. Then they had a baby boy, and it took a few years, but then so did we.
Over the years we've camped together, even admist hearding sheep and cows ;), and we've spent many a winter night in a cinderblock cabin with no plumbing during which we'd enjoy midnight tubing runs in the moonlight. We were even evacuated by the Sherriff once year during a huge storm. We always celebrated 4th of July and News Years eve together. Jon and Heath even worked together during high school at KFC, and then as married men at Intermountain Gas and BP Energy. In 2006, BP tried to transfer Jon to Omaha, but the Lord blessed us with another job offer at the same time right here in Boise back at Intermountain Gas. Heath, however, was also offered a wonderful opportunity to move with BP to Houston, and with many tears, they moved away.
After Ethan was born, Jon, Ethan and I went to visit them in their huge brick mansion in Texas complete with palm trees. So we will always have memories of Lupe's, Buckee's, Sea world, and Texas size Thunderstorms. That next summer they came and visited us for 4th of July and it was as if they had never left. Then they had to move to Indiana right after that trip.
It had been a year and a half since we had seen them, and their next trip home to Idaho wasn't until next summer, so Jon, Ethan, and I grabbed some great priced tickets and on December 3, 2008, exactly 14 years from our first double date we jetted off to Indiannapolis, Indiana to be with our best friends. We got to spend 4 nights and 3 full amazing days at the Hunt's new mansion in greenwood overlooking a beautiful pond. now the pond was completely frozen by our second day when it was 13 degrees outside! but we had so much fun just staying in and playing games- ticket to Ride and Sequence were the games of choice this trip. We saw downtown Indiannapolis, went to Chick Filet, the Steak and Shake, and Bob Evans. We went to target, and no matter where you are in the world, target will always make you feel at home- they even all smell the same. we went to a magical Christmas dinner and program at their church and then we had a huge fondue party. we had a chocolate fountain and a cheese fondue with every dipper imaginable. and we had diet Dr. Pepper. I was in heaven. even me, hater of cold weather and Christmas songs was ready to break out into song, "While the weather outside is frightful, the fondue is so delightful. and as long as the Dr. pepper's not running low...Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! " And Snow it did! It was a amazing trip and I even got to have Leanda paged when i lost her in this Huge but fun store called the Flower factory. i could have called her cell phone, but its so much fun to hear, "Leanda Hunt please meet your party at register 12." ;o)
Friends really are the family you get to pick out yourselves! We love you Heath and Leanda, even if Heath told Jon not to ask me out because I was an airhead. All has been forgiven...but never forgotten. ;) See you next summer!!!
